Watch "Threat Level Midnight," Action Thriller from "The Office"

Last night’s episode of The Office revealed Michael Scott’s dream project, 11 years in the making, an action-spy thriller called Threat Level Midnight. Everyone wants to direct; we should have seen this coming.

Viewed in snippets through the episode, the film is a satire and mashup of every James Bond and Bruce Willis movie you’ve ever seen, starrring all Michael’s co-workers. Michael (Steve Carell) plays the hero, Michael Scarn, a retired (or so he thinks!) spy mourning the loss of his wife, Catherine Zeta Scarn.

The entire episode is on-line, but don’t miss NBC’s elaborate Threat Level Midnight website too — an on-target spoof of movie sites, with trailers, clips, bios, praise for the film. Or, the highest praise they could find: “Can’t say I hate it, Can’t say I love it. — Darryl.”

I have to say, Threat Level Midnight is funnier than Carrell’s actual spy spoof, Get Smart.

Here’s a look at the obligatory dance scene — doesn’t every spy movie have one?
