Miramax Names Doctorow to Head Home Entertainment Strategy

Miramax CEO Mike Lang has announced that Eric Doctorow will serve as the company’s Executive Vice President. Doctorow will head Miramax’s worldwide home entertainment and distribution divisions, with a special focus on digital distribution and licensing. Doctorow will work closely with the partners that will help with Miramax’s worldwide distribution plans, which include Lionsgate, Studiocanal for European markets, Echo Bridge for select U.S. titles, and Alliance Films in Canada. Doctorow previously worked as the head of home entertainment for the MGM library at Fox Home Entertainment and worked for twenty years in the home entertainment division of Paramount.

The announcement comes a few months after the deal giving the Miramax library to Filmyard Holdings was finalized. The newly restructured company is primarily serving as a distribution outlet for the Miramax catalogue, which includes titles such as “Chicago,” “No Country for Old Men,” “Shakespeare in Love” and “Pulp Fiction.”

Commenting on the announcement, Lang said, “Eric is a tremendous addition to our senior leadership team, and we are very pleased that he is joining Miramax. Eric brings an unparalleled range of experience in the home entertainment business and an impressive track record of innovation and creativity — especially in library product. Our partnerships in home entertainment and international distribution are a key part of our strategy, and Eric will manage these important relationships, not only with existing partners such as Lionsgate, but the many more to come.”
