Oh Land is one to watch

Of all the musicians I saw during four days of the SXSW Music Festival, the group that impressed me the most was Oh Land. The dance/pop project of Danish beauty Nanna Øland Fabricius, Oh Land performed about 10 gigs during the whole of SXSW, starting things off with a YouTube party on Tuesday (the day her debut album dropped) at Maggie Mae’s and capping things off with the annual Perez Hilton party on Saturday night. In between, she performed gigs for Brooklyn Vegan and Billboard, which just illustrates the four-quadrant accessibility of the Oh Land sound. With a style that reminds you of Robyn, Goldfrapp, Portishead, and even Lady Gaga, I repeatedly commented during the SXSW Music Festival that Oh Land was the best act to monitor for possible Top 40 encroachment.
