Relativity Finds Prince Armie Hammer for Snow White

Someday Snow White’s prince will come, and it looks like it’s The Social Network‘s Armie Hammer. Relativity has cast Hammer as Prince Andrew Alcott in its untitled adventure Snow White, a contemporary retelling of the Brothers Grimm fairy tale to be directed by Tarsem Singh (Immortals, The Cell). Hammer joins Julia Roberts as the evil Queen. Saoirse Ronan is in talks for the title role.

Principal photography will start in May for a release date of June 29, 2012. Relativity’s Ryan Kavanaugh, Bernie Goldmann and Brett Ratner are producing a script written by Melissa Wallack and Jason Keller. Hammer is currently filming Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar, starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Three Snow White films are racing toward the finish line, with Relativity’s in the lead.

Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman, directed by Rupert Sanders from Evan Daugherty’s script, may have lost Viggo Mortensen (possibly to Superman: The Man of Steel) but has lined up Charlize Theron to play the wicked Queen along with Kristen Stewart as Snow White. Their release date is December 21, 2012. Meanwhile, Disney’s Snow and the Seven is still in the development stage, with Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3) polishing the script.

And Mila Kunis has been cast as yet another wicked witch opposite James Franco as Oz, the Great and Powerful in Sam Raimi’s Wizard of Oz prequel, written by David Lindsay-Abaire (Rabbit Hole) and produced by Joe Roth.
