Shoot Your Movie In Italy, Take 25% Off

Shoot Your Movie In Italy, Take 25% Off

Rome’s Cinecitta Studios has extended its 25%-off coupon to foreign producers through 2013.

The deal is this: Get an Italian executive producer, have the project pass the necessary cultural tests and shoot at Cinecitta. You’ll receive a 25% deduction (up to $7 million) in tax credits.

Like any production incentive, there’s plenty of red tape you’ll have to hack through first. And the Italian executive producer — one that you trust — is key: The tax credits must be paid through him or her.

Italy initially offered this incentive in 2009; it’s now been extended to 2013. The country also offer a 20% exemption on VAT (value-added tax).
