ARC Entertainment and Barry Gordon’s XLrator Media have acquired U.S. distribution rights to Guy Moshe’s martial-arts action film “Bunraku,” starring Demi Moore, Josh Hartnett and Woody Harrelson. In the film, Hartnett plays a mysterious drifter who lands in a crime-ridden down along with a Japanese warrior. The two join forces to defeat the corrupt leader who runs the town.

Martial-Arts Action Film Will Be Released in U.S. Theaters Later This Year

Los Angeles, CA April 26, 2011 – ARC Entertainment, in collaboration with Barry Gordon’s XLrator Media, has acquired U.S. distribution rights to the Snoot Entertainment’s martial-arts action film BUNRAKU. Written and directed by Guy Moshe, BUNRAKU premiered at the 2010 Toronto Film Festival and boasts an internationally renowned cast including Josh Hartnett, Ron Perlman, Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson, Kevin McKidd and Jordi Mollà as well as Japanese actors Gackt Camui and Shun Sugata.
Snoot Entertainment’s Keith Calder and Jessica Wu produced the film along with Nava Levin of Picturesque Films, and Ram Bergman. Celebrated production designer Alex McDowell (WATCHMEN, MINORITY REPORT) co-produced.

A mysterious drifter (Josh Hartnett) and young Japanese warrior Yoshi (Gackt) both arrive in a town that has been terrorized by outrageous and virulent criminals. Each is obsesses with his separate mission, and guided by the wisdom of The Bartender (Woody Harrelson) at the Horseless Horseman Saloon, the two eventually join forces to bring down the corrupt and contemptuous reign of Nicola (Ron Perlman), the awesomely evil “woodcutter” and his lady Alexandra (Demi Moore), a femme fatale with a secret past.
