Five New Albums Worth Your Dime

Five New Albums Worth Your Dime

1. Xylos, Xylos
(The debut LP from these Brooklyn psych-poppers gives their sound a makeover courtesy of Yeasayer producer Britt Myers. A band to watch, and an album to love.)

2. Dom, Sun Bronzed Greek Gods EP
(Retro sounds by a bunch of young musicians from Mass, giving us a promising start to a band that could grow into something special. Dom sounds like MGMT with the fat trimmed.)

3. TV On The Radio, Nine Types Of Light
(After the epic masterpiece Dear Science in 2008, TVOTR tone it down with a more soulful and restrained new album. It’s still the band we love, and further evidence that TVOTR may be the most exciting rock band in contemporary pop music.)

4. Low, C’mon
(The iconic slowcore duo, who recently got love from Robert Plant, keep it chill on this latest batch of warm textures.)

5. Foo Fighters, Wasting Light
(Dave Grohl doesn’t need to try as hard as he does, but he and his band strive for hard rock greatness 15 years since their inception. With some help from 1990s super-producer Butch Vig, this album is heavy but hooky, and will be the ideal soundtrack for the end of winter.)
