Michael Polish finds his Jack Kerouac

Deadline New York reports that director Michael Polish has locked in the cast for “Big Sur,” the latest film adaptation of a Jack Kerouac novel. Jean-Marc Barr will portray Kerouac, Josh Lucas will take on Neal Cassady and Kate Bosworth will play Billie, the woman romantically involved with both men. “Big Sur” takes places after Kerouac’s most famous work, “On The Road,” and chronicles his struggles with alcoholism, emotional turmoil and fame.

Will Ferrell, En Espanol

Here’s the trailer for “Casa de mi Padre,” the Spanish-language film starring Gael Garcia Bernal, Diego Luna and, ahem, Will Ferrell. In what appears to be a spoof, or at least the most stylized shoot-’em-up since Robert Rodriguez’s “Desperado,” Ferrell romances, slaps and dons a white mariachi suit with gusto. Mickey Rourke’s Foot Gets in his Mouth

Notorious rebel Mickey Rourke made waves this week when he called his upcoming movie “Passion Play” “terrible” and smirked at Megan Fox’s talent in a brief interview with Vulture. Rourke released a statement via Vulture today, stating “I don’t know why I said that stupid shit.” Click here to read more of Rourke’s apology.

A whole lot of Morgan Spurlock going on

Documentarian Morgan Spurlock continues to employ an impressive grasp of the term “meta.” David Carr explores Spurlock’s ubiquity as the filmmaker promotes “The Greatest Movie Ever Sold” and Carr tries to “look beyond Mr. Spurlock’s ceaseless self-promotion and determine whether his film was a devastating exposé of product placement or just one more example of commercialism on the march.”

The New “Cowboys & Aliens” Trailer
