Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival to Open with "Fast Five" and Close with "Love in Disguise"

Visual Communications, an Asian Pacific media arts center, announced the lineup for the 27th edition of its Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival (LAAPFF). The festival will open with Justin Lin’s “Fast Five,” the lastest in the Vin Diesel and Paul Walker action series, and close with “Love in Disguise,” directed by and starring pop star Leehom Wang. Danny Pudi, from NBC’s “Community,” will host the opening night gala in conjunction with Lin’s Internet site www.YOMYOMF.COM (“You Offend Me You Offend My Family”).

LAAPFF coincides with Asian Pacific Heritage month and includes 180 feature and short films from Asian Pacific American and Asian international directors hailing from over 20 countries. Other highlights of the festival include the Centerpiece Presentation of Bertha Ban-Sa Pan’s romantic comedy “Almost Perfect,” with director and cast in attendance, a retrospective tribute to cinematographer James Wong Howe and the premiere of six never-before-seen films.

The festival runs from April 28 – May 7 and takes place at the Director’ s Guild of America, Laemmle’ s Sunset 5 Theatres and the CGV Cinemas in Koreatown. Click here for more information on films, special events and tickets.
