Meek's Cutoff

A Western that fully inhabits both the rural geography as well as the rural state-of-mind, Meek’s Cutoff is a fantastic piece of filmmaking. Kelly Reichardt’s latest film may seem like a departure for the acclaimed indie auteur, but it’s really not. Meek’s Cutoff is enriched with echoes of Terence Malick, and a solid sense of purpose. In addition, the performances are great, especially Bruce Greenwood in the title role. It opens on April 8 in New York, and then expands nationwide through the Spring. Here’s the trailer:
