Susan Sarandon, David Arquette & Adam Brody Set To Join Rosanna Arquette's 'Hemlock Drive'

After Two Documentaries Under Her Belt, The Actress-Turned-Director Helms Her First Feature

Here’s an interesting cast for what sounds like a small indie passion project. Adam Brody, Susan Sarandon and David Arquette are all in negotiations to join Rosanna Arquette‘s feature-length narrative debut, “Hemlock Drive.”

Written by actresses Jennifer Carta and Mandy Steckelberg and set in a small New England town, the dramedy centers on the Pratt family and an eccentric, once-trendsetting mother (Sarandon) in Connecticut who learns she is dying and brings her three adult children back home for a weekend (Brody is one of the children, but two other actors need to be cast, including the lead female Abigail Pratt). David Arquette will play Murphy, who owns a nearby bar.

According to producers, there’s vague echoes of the mortality drama “Get Low,” where the main character tries to throw a funeral for himself while still alive, though that film was set in the 1930s. “She tries to bond the family before she dies, and she makes them throw her a ‘living funeral,’ ” the movie’s producer, Kristin Holt, told The Wrap yesterday. “It’s a very funny dramedy.”

Rosanna Arquette previously directed the documentary “Searching for Debra Winger” and the made-for-TV music doc “All We Are Saying.” “Hemlock Drive” would be her first feature-length dramatic film.

Sarandon is about to begin filming “Arbitrage” with Richard Gere and Tim Roth while Brody recently starred in “Scream 4” alongside David Arquette, who is still coming off the debasement of having to do press for the horror sequel alongside his ex-wife Courteney Cox, while trying to pretend he isn’t utterly heartbroken. Poor guy (have you seen any of those interviews? Awwwwkward).
