7th Art Releasing Buys Panorama Winner "In Heaven, Underground" Out of Hot Docs

7th Art Releasing bought North American distribution rights and world television rights to Britta Wauer’s “In Heaven, Underground: The Jewish Cemetery in Berlin-Weissensee.” It’s currently playing as part of the Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival in Toronto.

“In Heaven,” which won the Panorama Audience Award after its world premiere this year at Berlin International Film Festival, is an exploration of Berlin’s 130-year-old Weissensee Jewish Cemetery, the oldest Jewish cemetery still in use in Europe; it remained in Jewish hands during the Nazi regime. Among the people Wauer portrays are “mourners, tourists, a young family residing at the cemetery, a third-generation gravedigger and an ornithologist studying rare birds of prey.”

7th Art plans a winter theatrical release later this year.
