Cannes: Red Granite Hosts Performers Kanye West, Jamie Foxx, Leo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper

What becomes a legend most?

New production company Red Granite paid a handsome sum–some estimates were as high as $1 million–to put its name on the map and be the hot topic in Cannes. Twitter feeds lit up late Saturday night as Red Granite’s Carlton Beach party entertainment took the stage: Kanye West, later joined by Jamie Foxx for a rousing rendition of “Gold Digger.” Folks on the Croisette who didn’t have tickets could see the fireworks.

West gave a stellar, sweaty, ear-splitting performance, striding across the stage in a low-slung white suit with v-neck white shirt and sneakers. He performed for about an hour and a half, from after midnight til after 1:30 AM. As the crowd–which included champagne-guzzling Leo DiCaprio, whose film adaptation of Jordan Belfort’s memoir The Wolf of Wall Street, scripted by Terence Winter, is now backed by Red Granite, as well as Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt’s Friends with Kids.

They were there, along with Bradley Cooper and ex-Google chief Eric Schmidt, , Sony Acquisition Group’s Steve Bersch, WME’s Doug Taylor and producer Lynnette Howell, Cinetic Media’s John Sloss and Matt Dentler, Alamo Theaters’ Tim League, Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Rose Kuo and Eugene Hernandez, Mubi’s Efe Cakarel, Avi Lerner and Kevin Sorbo.

Millenium/Nu Image execs Danny Dimbort and Christian Mercuri will soon run Red Granite’s foreign sales arm for the company’s chairman Riza Aziz and vice chairman Joey McFarland.
