Festivals in Cannes Looking for Entries:Thessaloniki, Venice Film Days, San Sebastian

Cinema in Motion 7 has opened for registration

Cinema in Motion 7 is now open for registration
This programme, organised by the International Film Festival with the Amiens (France) and Fribourg (Switzerland) international festivals, will exclusively comprise feature films at the end of their filming or at the post-production stage.
Cinema in Motion 7 will take place on Monday, 19 September 2011 at the 59th International Film Festival in San Sebastian.
This rendezvous is open to filmmakers from the Maghreb, Portuguese-speaking African countries and developing Arab countries: Algeria, Angola, Cape Verde, Egypt, Guinea, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Mozambique, Palestine, Sao Tome y Principe, Syria and Tunisia.
The directors and/or producers of the selected films will have the chance to defend their projects before professionals from all sectors accredited at the International Film Festival Industry Club.
Different kinds of aid will be granted within the framework of Cinema in Motion 7, among which:
• Mactari mixing auditorium: €15,000 in services.
• Dubai International Film Festival: €5,000 towards post-production costs.
• Amiens Festival: a 35 mm copy.
• Fribourg Festival: a 35 mm copy.
• Titra Film: €2,500 towards subtitling in French or English.

The deadline for registering and receiving material is 4 July 2011.

SCOUTING FOR TALENT ON THE CROISETTE

Cannes marks the most intense phase of our committee’s selection process, the deadline for which is July 11th, 2011. The Venice Days staff will be on Croisette for the full duration of the festival to meet filmmakers, partners and industry professionals and to scout out new talent for the seventh edition of the independent sidebar of the Venice Film Festival.

AWARDED BALKAN FUND PROJECT LOVERBOY SELECTED FOR UN CERTAIN REGARD



LOVERBOY, (previously known as A Heart Shaped Balloon project) by Catalin Mitulescu – Strada Films Romania , is selected for this year’s UN CERTAIN REGARD section.
LOVERBOY was presented and awarded for script development by the Balkan Fund jury in 2006.

CROSSROADS FILM PROJECT LUTON SELECTED FOR CINEFONDATION L’ ATELIER 2011
Film project LUTON by Michalis Konstantatos participated in the 6th Crossroads Co-production Forum 2010 and is now selected for L’Atelier 2011. Mihalis Konstantatos has won numerous awards for his short films and this marks his first feature length project. The production is carried out by Yorgos Tsourgiannis – Horsefly Productions of Dogtooth fame.

CANNES WORLD MARKET PREMIER FOR SERBIAN FILM THE ENEMY



THE ENEMY by Dejan Zecevic – a Serbian, Bosnian, Croatian and Hungarian co-production was screened at the Agora Market’s Works in Progress session last December, during the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. Selected Industry Professionals had the opportunity to watch a 10-minute extract of the film, including INSOMNIA WORLD SALES who are now presenting the film in Cannes with a Market Screening.
INSOMNIA also picked-up after Thessaloniki the award wining film, APNEA by Aris Bafaloukas – ArtWave Productions, Greece.
