International Sales Agent of the Day: Tayrona

Sales Vet Lars Bjorck has changed companies and will be in Cannes with Tayrona Entertainment Group which has been acting as a production services group for films such as The Mission and The Dancer Upstairs and developing, producing, co-financing as well as distributing commercial feature films in all of the Latin American territories. His duties will be assisting the team in finding theatrical feature films to distribute in Latin America. Tayrona is also starting its very own in-house sales and distribution company where I will be engaged in the selling and marketing to the worldwide marketplace of Tayrona produced and financed films.

Three of the Tayrona team will be in Cannes: Vice President of Distribution Ivan McAlister, Victor Rodriguez (VP of Television) and Lars himself introducing to the world market a new action-adventure film titled, Havana Heat and a few of their other feature film projects in various stages of production.

Havana Heat will start principal photography on June 13, 2011 with a budget of US $ 16 million. It will have an ensemble cast which includes: Samuel L. Jackson, Jean Claude van Damme, Danny Trejo, Ving Rhames, Joey Lawrence, Zulay Henao, Michael Dudikoff, Lorena Rincon, Peta Wilson, Raul Julia Jr., Ed Harris, Bolo Yeung and Nicholas Brown. Amongst the producers of this film are: Ted Field (Radar Pictures – “The Last Samurai”, “Jumanji” etc. ), Ed Elbert (” Anna and the King”, etc.) and James Ordonez (President of Tayrona Entertainment Group). The director is Two-Time Academy Award nominee Mikael Salomon (“A Far Off Place”, “Hard Rain”, etc.).

Havana Heat will be released in the U.S. in over 2,000 cinemas via a major studio soon to be announced and with a substantial P & A expenditure. In Latin America the Tayrona Entertainment Group will distribute the film theatrically and in all other medias. The film will open in over 1,000 screens in Latin America.
