New Miike film to be video game adaptation.

Takashi Miike’s “Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai” recently premiered at Cannes and it looks like he’s already set to take on his next project. Film Business Asia reported that the Japanese director will helm “Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney,” an adaptation of Capcom’s popular videogame series.

Danish filmmakers gone wild.

By now we’ve all heard enough about the Lars Von Trier controversy at Cannes. The Guardian took an interesting look at another Danish film director who turned heads at Cannes…only to fizzle out in the years to come: “Festen” director Thomas Vinterberg.

What is Cashiers du Cinemart?

Glossy magazines with airbrushed pictures of celebrities are one thing, but Mike White’s cut-and-paste fanzine “Cashiers du Cinemart” is a whole other beast. The issues have now been assembled in an anthology and Cullen Gallagher interviewed the zine’s founder and editor for The L Magazine.

Movies with Johnny (Depp).

The Guardian explored the results of a recent poll that named Johnny Depp as the ideal companion for a movie marathon. “If you could really convince any movie star in the world to watch a film with you – even though watching a film is such a pointlessly non-interactive pastime you’d be just as well served by sharing your sofa with a plank of wood or a ventriloquist’s dummy – would you really want Johnny Depp?”
