23rd NewFest Locks Down Full Lineup

23rd NewFest Locks Down Full Lineup

The 23rd annual New York Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Film Festival (NewFest) has locked down its full lineup. On top of the previously announced gala screenings (opener “We Were Here,” “Wish Me Away,” “Weekend” and closer “Gun Hill Road,”) this year’s edition includes the drag ball musical “Leave It on the Floor,” Tom Twyker’s (“Run Lola Run”) “3,” the Tribeca charmer “Carol Channing: Larger than Life,” the Sundance Audience Award winner “Circumstance” and the Sundance alum “Codependent Lesbian Space Alien Seeks Same.”

Another highlight: Producer Christine Vachon (“Poison,” “Boys Don’t Cry”) will be honored with the first annual NewFest Visionary Award prior to the opening night screening. Additionally, she will be on hand to participate in a Q&A at the Film Society’s Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center on July 22.

The full program, including descriptions of all films and a full list of short films, is available here. Tickets go on sale to NewFest members beginning Tuesday, June 28 and to the general public Tuesday, July 5.

NewFest runs July 21-28.
