Indiewire's Project of the Day: Egyptian Uprising Doc "The People Demand"

Each week, we usually gather up four or five projects in progress to feature in a single column. Now it’s going to be a daily feature, so we can give the spotlight to a single project each day.

Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

“The People Demand”

Tweetable Logline (140 characters or less):
A documentary showing the continued progress after the revolution in Egypt, and the demands of the people changing their country.

Production Team:
Writer/Director: Pierre Habib
Producer: Caroline Kert
Cinematographer: Mikey Pounds
Producer/Editor: Jeremy Lyons

About the film:
I was in Cairo just before the revolution and any political change at the time seemed impossible. A few months later, I see continued turmoil in the country without the international media coverage that pressured the old regime. There is still rampant abuse of power and corruption. This film will let the now emboldened Egyptians tell their stories so that those who take power know they are being monitored.

Current status:
We’ve started basic coverage of events from the ground in Cairo and are finalizing fundraising to get the crew to Egypt for principal photography.
