indieWIRE's Project of the Day: Feminist Dramedy "In Amanda's Shoes"

Each week, we usually gather up four or five projects in progress to feature in a single column. Now it’s going to be a daily feature, so we can give the spotlight to a single project each day.

Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

“In Amanda’s Shoes”

Tweetable Logline:

Life one step at a time.

Elevator Pitch:
“In Amanda’s Shoes” is a comedy/drama about a young professional woman trying to find success in a male-dominated industry by making partner at her law firm. Along the way, she realizes that life is one step at a time as she struggles to find balance between work, family and personal life.

Production Team:

Writers/Producers: Melissa Ewing and Edwin Navas (“The Promotion,” “In Amanda’s Shoes” is their first original feature screenplay.)

About the production:

”We are excited to share our first feature film and believe that men and women alike will fall in love with the characters of “In Amanda’s Shoes.” This story expands upon our short film, “The Promotion,” which premiered at the Cannes Short Film Corner this year and recently screened at the Hoboken International Film Festival as an Official Selection and allows us to explore the lead character Amanda in more depth. “In Amanda’s Shoes” connects with men and women who have had to make sacrifices to pursue their goals and also touches on discovering inner strength and humility as we tackle everyday hurdles to find balance.” — Melissa Ewing and Edwin Navas

Why iW likes this:
We can never have too many stories about gender imbalance in the workplace. That and this film looks like it might be funny…

Current status:
“We have attached Jackie Costello as our lead actress and are talking with potential directors as we finish raising funds to take our project to the next phase of production. We expect to successfully fund the film in time to complete production in Spring 2012.” — Melissa Ewing and Edwin Navas
