iPOP | This Week on the Scene: The Festival Season Revs Up (Again)

iPOP has been up to its eyes in film festivals, meeting exciting new directors and running into some iconic stars along the way.

Among the events iPOP has been covering: Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon appeared at the Toronto International Film Festival to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Thelma and Louise” and discuss its enormous impact. “A Beginner’s Guide to Endings,” the debut feature of director Jonathan Sobol, opened New York’s Gen Art Festival on Wednesday evening with its star, Harvey Keitel, in attendance. The Sheffield Doc/Fest held the European premieres of Emily James’ “Just Do It,” a pro-environmental activism doc, and “Mrs. Carey’s Concert,” an Australian doc covering a music teacher as she prepares her students for a concert at the Sydney Opera House. And the Seattle International Film Festival screened “The Guatemalan Handshake” director Todd Rohan’s new feature “The Catacysm Cataclysm” as well as Mike Mills’ “Beginners.”
