News Wrap: Comcast Flushes Exec Perks at 30 Rock, Advertisers Love Facebook

New NBC Universal owner Comcast is flushing the executive perks at NBC’s New York headquarters, 30 Rock. Comcast’s diminishing of the previous corporate culture includes the elimination of private toilets. Top NBC suits will be moved down one floor from their current home on the 52nd, but their new offices will be smaller, more transparent, further from NBCU co-owner GE, and have communal lavatories.

This change in the privacy of privies has some corporate history: former chief of NBC entertainment, Jeff Gaspin, had built himself a $200,000 private bathroom by his office (pictured). Those free-spending days are over. Comcast has indicated that his extravagance was a key factor in his release from the company.

Advertisers like Facebook—by about $2.19 billion. In terms of advertising revenue, Facebook has bounded ahead of Google and Yahoo as the clear ad leader on the Internet. Google will accrue $1.15 billion in display advertisements, while Yahoo will make $1.62 billion from banner ads. However, they all still fall behind compared to television, according to eMarketer research. Overall, TV makes 16% of ad revenue compared to the Internet’s 7%, according to ZenithOptimedia.
