'Parks And Recreation' Star Adam Scott Joins Seth Rogen & Barbra Streisand In 'My Mother's Curse'

Actor Also Signs On To Indie ‘See Girl Run,’ Is Awesome

It didn’t happen overnight by any means, but the world is finally starting to take notice of Adam Scott. The 38-year-old actor has been working for over 15 years now (he was in “Boy Meets World” and “Murder One“!), but finally started to grab people’s attention in the first half of the last decade, with roles in “High Crimes,” “Torque” and “The Aviator.” And things have only gotten better since then: he stole the show from Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in “Step Brothers” (see below for evidence), put in a terrific pair of indie performances in “The Vicious Kind” and “Passenger Side,” led the already-legendary sitcom “Party Down” and even proved to be a viable action hero in last summer’s “Piranha 3D.”

The actor’s currently appearing in the best show on TV, “Parks and Recreation,” and has roles coming up in the comedies “Our Idiot Brother,” “Friends With Kids” and “Bachelorette,” and now two more: The Hollywood Reporter have news that Scott has signed on to both the Seth Rogen/Barbra Streisand road movie “My Mother’s Curse” and the indie flick “See Girl Run.”

The former, directed by “The Proposal” helmer Anne Fletcher, sees Rogen as a struggling inventor who takes his mother (Streisand) on a cross-country trip to reunite her with a lost love. It also has Colin Hanks and “Chuck” star Yvonne Strahovski on board, although there’s no word on who Scott would play. “See Girl Run,” meanwhile, will see Scott reunite with “Passenger Side” co-star Robin Tunney in a David Gordon Green-produced flick about a woman going over her past romantic mistakes, with Scott playing an artist who stayed in his home town after high school and is still mourning his relationship with the protagonist. Nate Meyers (“Pretty in the Face“) is directing.

Details are still thin on both, but they’ve each just been improved by roughly 10% with the addition of Scott. One day, someone will wise up and give him a proper leading role, but in the meantime we’re happy with four to five supporting performances in movies, plus ‘Parks and Rec.’ “My Mother’s Curse” is currently filming and hits theaters on March 30th 2012, while “See Girl Run” will most likely hit the festival circuit some time in the same year.
