Tinker Tailor Poster Spy: One-Sheet Arrives For Eagerly Anticipated Spy Flick

Every time we have to see something like “The Smurfs” or “Glee: The 3D Concert Movie” we get through it (other than by self-medicating) by remembering that it’s only a few months before “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” hits theaters. The English-language debut of “Let The Right One In” director Tomas Alfredson, and the first big-screen version of the John le Carré spy novel already memorably adapted for television in the 1970s, the film’s long been one of our most anticipated, considering its impeccably-pedigreed cast, and the teaser trailer that landed a few weeks back did absolutely nothing to change that, being one of the most mouth-watering clips we’ve seen in some time.

Now, Empire has debuted the film’s international one-sheet, and it’s a strong image: the already iconic figure of George Smiley, as played by Gary Oldman, assembled from code. Does anyone want to get cracking on figuring it out? We’re pretty sure we can make out the words “Dr. Hugo Strange” somewhere. Oh, right, wrong Gary Oldman movie.

The film’s already picking up some early awards buzz, particularly for Oldman’s performance, but with a cast that also include Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, John Hurt, Toby Jones, Mark Strong, Benedict Cumberbatch and Ciaran Hinds, it’s not entirely surprising. It hits U.K. theaters on September 16th (with a bow at Venice, Telluride or Toronto almost certain), with a U.S. release following, just in time for Thanksgiving, on November 18th.
