Just when we thought the super-secret Nolan crew on the Pittsburgh set of The Dark Knight Rises were going to succeed at keeping the lid on the production, new stills from the set have leaked out that show Catwoman tearing through some kind of riot on the Bat-pod. These photos come (literally) on the heels of the first official Warner Bros.-sanctioned still of Anne Hathaway as the new character, which was released this morning. And Total Film got Tom Hardy to open up about his masked role as Bane.
-While The Social Network’s Jesse Eisenberg barely survives the execrable raunch comedy 30 Minutes or Less, he’s still a hot commodity these days. He’s slated to be in a bevy of projects, among them Woody Allen’s new movie, The Bop Decameron and Summit Entertainment’s upcoming magician/bank heist flick Now You See Me.
According to New York Magazine, he’s also signed up to be in Richard Ayoade’s adaptation of the Fyodor Dostoyevsky novella The Double, about a Russian government clerk who begins to lose it when a seemingly identical copy of himself starts working at his office. Apparently, Eisenberg, following in Armie Hammer’s Social Network tradition, will play opposite himself as both characters.
-Brendan Gleeson, speaking to the Boston Herald’s Stephen Schaefer, downplayed rumors that he would be playing Victor McLaglen, the Irish boxer actor who tousled with John Wayne in The Quiet Man. Gleeson had some choice words for the false rumors propagated on internet movie sites like IMDB (“I didn’t go to RADA”) and Wikipedia, which apparently changed his sexuality and proclaimed that the actor was married to Gary instead of Mary.
-Stephen Soderbergh, the workaholic writer, cinematographer, editor and director, isn’t retiring yet. He’s directing the second unit for The Hunger Games. Apparently, Soderbergh and Hunger director Gary Ross are old friends (Soderbergh produced Ross’s Pleasantville), and Soderbergh’s storied speediness will certainly be an asset for the fast-moving project, which is slated to be in theaters in only seven months.
-Disney and Marvel Studios are already gearing up for Thor 2 to come out in 2013. Director Kenneth Branagh was asked to come back for the title’s second installment, but he might opt instead for Fox 2000’s The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. Variety reports that Brian Kirk, who helmed several episodes of HBO’s Game of Thrones, is in early talks to take on the second Thor installment.
