indieWIRE’s Project of the Day: Finding “MOM” with a Motley Crew of Private Eyes

indieWIRE's Project of the Day: Finding "MOM" with a Motley Crew of Private Eyes

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

“MOM”

Tweetable Logline:

Sometimes you find what you’re looking for…sometimes you find more.

Elevator Pitch:

“MOM” is the story of a young man named Try who hires a rag tag group of Brooklyn detectives to help him find his biological mother. What he doesn’t expect is this unorthodox brand of familial detection to ensue the existential journey of a lifetime. Funny, poignant and sincere MOM raises many questions and serves as no answer in regards to some of ways in which we see ourselves and the idea of family. No two viewers will leave the theater having thought they saw the same film.

Production Team:

Director/Writer: Lonely Christopher
Producer: Melinda Prisco, Jakob Abrams
Executive Producer: Jose Cavazos
Cinematographer: Matias Penachino
Cast: Joe Huffman, Jakob Abrams, Alejandra Bufula, Mink Stole, Janet Hubert, Melinda Prisco, James Hannaham.

About the Production:

“Having written extensively on the subject of family, Lonely Christopher developed a cinematic concept through which to specifically investigate adoption and non-traditional family constructs. This is a film about loss and longing; and how those emotions play out through different types of relationships (and our expectations for them).” — Jakob Abrams

Current Status:

Pre-production.
