The Rum Diary starring Johnny Depp has been in the can for what feels like two years now, but there’s a reason for the delay apparently. ”You can’t open it next to some blockbuster thing,” Depp told EW in their Fall Film Preview issue. ”It’s a special little film.” While we’ve seen photos of Depp as the writer Paul Kemp who works at a Puerto Rico newspaper in the ’50s-set adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson‘s early novel, this is our first look at Amber Heard in the picture. The director is Bruce Robinson of “Withnail & I” fame? Wait, who? Exactly. Robinson hasn’t directed a feature since “Jennifer Eight” in 1992, but as he told EW, “Johnny’s one of the few stars who can [handpick] who they want to direct a movie.” And what’s one of Depp’s favorite movies? Well, the debauched and depraved “Withnail & I” so there you have it. The picture also stars Aaron Eckhart, Giovanni Ribisi, Richard Jenkins and it hits theaters on October 28.

More photos below from “My Week With Marilyn,” starring Michelle Williams, Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig in “The Girl WIth The Dragon Tattoo,” Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson side by side in Cameron Crowe‘s “We Bought A Zoo,” Jeremy Renner rescuing Tom Cruise‘s life in “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,” plus marriage photos from “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” (which look like something out of the sunny and tanned “The O.C.“), “The Iron Lady,” “Hugo,” “The Descendants,” “The Muppets,” and more.

All photos via EW, but obviously many of these aren’t online. Some “Breaking Dawn” photos are here. Hugo photo via Movieline.
