SBIFF Announces Acquisitions Program, Kicking off Festival January 27-29

Yet another film festival is getting into the indie distribution game. The Santa Barbara Film Festival‘s new acquisitions program will debut during the fest’s opening weekend, January 27-29, 2012.

Santa Barbara Film Fest will be partnered with Los Angeles-based production and sales company Traction Media on the acquisitions program, which is designed to allow buyers easy access to fest offerings selected by SBIFF and Traction. SBIFF joins joins Tribeca Film and the Sundance Institute in amping up the role they play in getting indies a life post-festival.

Doug Stone, President of the SBIFF Board and a principal of Traction Media, said: “We are eager to now be able to shine a spotlight on these [high caliber] films for the acquisitions community.”

Filmmakers can submit films to the festival via withoutabox until December 9.
