"The Catechism Cataclysm" Director/Writer Nabs Johnny Knoxville and Patton Oswalt for Follow-Up

Johnny Knoxville (“Jackass”) and Patton Oswalt (“Big Fan”) will team up for the first time in Todd Rohal’s follow-up to his Sundance contender “The Catechism Cataclysm.” The film, an untitled comedy written by Rohal, is loosely based on his experiences growing up. Production begins this week.

Knoxville and Oswalt will play distanced brothers who compete for their ailing father’s attention by taking a troop of boys on a camping trip. Mayhem ensues.

Rounding out the ensemble are Rob Riggle (“Step Brothers”) and Maura Tierney (TV’s “ER”).

The film is being financed by Marc Turtletaub’s and Peter Saraf’s Big Beach Films with Turtletaub, Saraf and Lisa Muskat producing and David Gordon Green serving as executive producer. The Weinstein Company is releasing the Big Beach-produced “Our Idiot Brother” this Friday, August 26th.

“The Catechism Cataclysm” opens in limited release this fall through IFC Midnight. Go here for indieWIRE’s review.
