After HBO miniseries “Mildred Pierce” topped this year’s Emmy Awards nominations with a whopping 21 noms, executive producer/director Todd Haynes has reportedly reteamed with the HBO miniseries’ executive producers, John Wells and Christine Vachon, for another go-round at HBO.
This time it’s a drama series, with Haynes directing the pilot. Adapted by Sara Gran from her novel, “Dope” is set around 1950 and would star Oscar-nominee and Haynes favorite Moore, who also worked with the director on “Safe” and “Far From Heaven.” Moore would portray a woman who overcomes her heroin addiction to become a private eye.
Moore’s currently in “Crazy Stupid Love.,” but her next starring role is on HBO as former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin in the upcoming film about the 2008 Presidential election, “Game Change,” from director Jay Roach.
Haynes’ last project was a concert film of My Morning Jacket, which he shot live for American Express’ “Unstaged” series.
