Film Movement Nabs Spanish Drama "Amador"

Film Movement has acquired North American rights to Fernando León De Aranoa’s latest drama, “Amador.”

Winner of Best Director and Best Actress in an Iberoamerican Feature at the Guadalajara International Film Festival, “Amador” stars Peruvian actress Magaly Solier as young immigrant with financial troubles, facing a major moral crisis.

The company will release it theatrically in New York during the second quarter of 2012, with a limited national roll-out to follow, as well as a day-and-date Cable Video and on Demand premiere.

Berlin Competition Film to be Distributed in all of North America

September 6th, 2011 (New York, NY) – Film Movement (www.filmmovement.com), the North American film distribution company that brings first-run, award-winning independent and foreign films to fans all across the U.S. and Canada, announced today their acquisition of AMADOR. The newest release from acclaimed Spanish filmmaker Fernando León De Aranoa (MONDAYS IN THE SUN, PRINCESAS), is the portrait of a young immigrant woman living in Spain and facing a life-changing moral crisis. The Spanish-language film stars Peruvian actress—and Film Movement alum— Magaly Solier (MADEINUSA). AMADOR will enjoy a New York theatrical opening in Q2 of 2012, with a limited national roll-out to follow, as well as a day-and-date Cable Video on Demand premiere.

Synopsis of AMADOR:

Marcela, a young immigrant with financial troubles, finds a summer job looking after Amador, a bed-ridden elderly man whose family is away. She thinks her problems are solved, but Amador dies shortly thereafter, putting Marcela in a predicament. His death leaves her jobless, something she can’t afford to let happen…Faced with a difficult moral dilemma, Marcela will prove that death can’t always stop life.

The acquisition of AMADOR was negotiated by Film Movement’s President Adley Gartenstein and VP of Acquisitions and Distribution Rebeca Conget, and Beatriz Setuain for Imagina International Sales.
