Fox Searchlight Pictures has acquired to Steve McQueen’s provocative and sexually explicit drama “Shame.” Written by McQueen with Abi Morgan, “Shame” stars Michael Fassbender and Carey Mulligan.
“Shame” is the story of compulsive sex addict whose life spirals out of control when his younger sister moves into his apartment and stirs memories of their shared painful past.
“Shame” premiered at the Venice and Telluride film festivals and will screen at the Toronto Film Festival.
The deal was brokered for Fox Searchlight by executive VP worldwide Acquisitions Tony Safford, senior VP business affairs Megan O’Brien and VP acquisitions Ray Strache. Representing the filmmakers were Thorsten Schumacher and Claire Taylor of HanWay Films.
