Noomi Rapace’s ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ 9-Hour Extended Trilogy Coming To DVD/BluRay

Noomi Rapace's 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' 9-Hour Extended Trilogy Coming To DVD/BluRay

A blockbuster literary sensation, turned into very successful trilogy of Swedish films, which in turn launched the international career of Noomi Rapace and is now the source of a highly anticipated Hollywood redo by David Fincher, there is no denying “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo” is a phenomenon in both mediums. And it’s getting even bigger.

Arriving one month before the Rooney Mara-led remake hits multiplexes across the nation, Music Box Films will unveil for the first time on American shores the full, uncut, extended versions of the Swedish films. Hewing closer to Stieg Larsson‘s books, each movie is now three hours long, and they were first presented last year on Swedish television as a six-part mini-series. With more space to breathe, the films will feature additional roles and a larger subplot with Erika Berger (Lena Endre), the editor at Blomkvist’s Millennium Magazine as well as his friend and occasional lover.

So, there is definitely lots here to dig into, and fans of Stieg Larsson, Noomi Rapace and this trilogy in general will have lots to savour over the holidays this winter. But if you’re looking to get the jump on Fincher by watching these first, just remember that he and screenwriter Steve Zaillian have changed the ending for their film. Sacrilege? We’ll soon find out. But before that, the feel bad movie of Christmas comes early and in Swedish — the “Dragon Tattoo Trilogy: Extended Edition” will hit DVD and BluRay on November 22nd.
