"Where Do We Go Now" Surprises As Toronto Audience Award Winner

Nadine Labaki’s “Where Do We Go Now?” surprised as the winner of the People’s Choice Award at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.

Previous winners of the fest’s most notable prize include “The King’s Speech,” “Slumdog Millionaire” and “Precious,” and the award has generally been a considerable good luck charm for Oscar. This year, however, it seems Toronto audiences have thought outside that particular box, giving a nice boost to Labaki’s film. The film was recently announced as Lebanon’s official entry for foreign-language Oscar consideration and this gives it a nice profile going into that race.

The complete list of announced winners is below. Check out indieWIRE‘s roundup of critical reaction from the festival here.
