iW's Project of the Day: "Lights Camera Bullshit" Takes a Look at Making Films in Memphis

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

Tweetable Logline:

A man that comes back to Memphis in hopes of making films, only to face the insanity that it is to make films there..

Elevator Pitch:

The movie is about a man that comes back to Memphis in hopes of making films with a local production company, only to face pretentiousness, shyness, paranoia, racism, and apathy. It’s about stirring up all those bad emotional traits that come up during the filmmaking process and attempting to persevere through it all to do what makes filmmakers happy, putting their heart and soul into telling a story.

Production Team:

Director: Chad Barton (“I Can’t Turn It Off,” “Am I”)
Writers and Executive Producers: David Arocho and Chad Barton
Producers: Shelby Baldock, Eric Tate, Joey Carr
Assistant Director/ Production Manager: Joey Carr
Production Designer: Chad Irwin
Cinematographer: Shelby Baldock (“I Can’t Turn It Off,” “Am I”)
Assistant Camera: Patrick Churvis
Production Sound Mixer: Robert Rowan
Location Manager: Eric Huber
Cast: Eric Tate (“The Poor and Hungry,” “Am I”)

About the Production:

“We’re trying to be honest about the environment, not only applying filmmaking here, because while it’s not bad, it’s still not what it should be. The main character is quite optimistic about the city’s future, and in the film we show people trying to be productive and accomplish what they want. I’m motivated to try and tell the outside world that ‘Hey! Films are being made here everyday. We’re just as much of an art town as any other,’ and there are plenty of local filmmakers and artists that will be in this to prove just that point.” — Chad Barton
