iW's Project of the Day: New Thriller from "Zombie Dearest" Filmmakers "The Wall"

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

“The Wall”

Tweetable Logline:

A man falls behind on his mortgage; foreclosed; unable to wrap his head around homelessness, he moves in between the walls of his house

Elevator Pitch:

We see this man more and more. He refinanced his home without reading the fine print. His mortgage payments get so high he falls behind. He’s foreclosed upon and kicked out of the only home he’s ever known. Sadly, he has nowhere to go. Unable to accept homelessness, he clings to his old life by moving into an empty space between the walls. From there, he watches as the predatory financier who evicted him lets a young runaway crash there. When the financier’s advances become violent, the man is forced to choose between helping the girl or remaining hidden.

Production Team:

Director: David Kemker
Writers: Mark Cavanagh & David Kemker
Producers: Mark Cavanagh, David Kemker & Wendy Jewell
Editor: Slater Jewell-Kemker
Cinematographer: Slater Jewell-Kemker
Music: Slater Jewell-Kemker

About the Production:

“I’m lucky enough to feel secure in my living space but I haven’t always. So when I see record numbers of Americans being foreclosed upon as a direct result of unscrupulous, often predatory lending practices, it really strikes a nerve. The predominant theme explored by ‘The Wall’ is ‘home’ – the Man who’s foreclosed upon and forced into the margins of his own life – the girl who’s run away from home – the predatory financier who sees homes only as a way to make a buck – all show us the meaning of “home” and where it really is.” — David Kemker

Current Status:

Pre-Production, begins shooting Halloween.
