Michael Fassbender and Steve McQueen Go For Round Three With "Slave"

If it ain’t broke, why fix it? That seems to be the mindset of actor-director duo Michael Fassbender and Steve McQueen, who according to Variety, are set to team up a third time in McQueen’s next project, “12 Years a Slave.” The two collaborated before on “Hunger” and most recently on “Shame,” which won Fassbender Best Actor in Venice and is being released by Fox Searchlight on December 2 for awards contention.

The script for “12 Years,” penned by McQueen and John Ridley (“Three Kings”), is based on the 1853 autobiography by Solomon Northup, a free black man living in New York, who was tricked into slavery. Chiwetel Ejiofor (“Children of Men,” “Kinky Boots”) is set to play the lead role. Fassbender’s role hasn’t been disclosed as of yet.

Fassbender can also be seen in David Cronenberg’s “A Dangerous Method” this fall. It opens November 23 in limited release.
