Watch: Suitably Epic Trailer for Luc Besson's "The Lady"

No matter the genre, Luc Besson (“The Fifth Element,” “La Femme Nikita”) is a filmmaker who likes his film loud, big and bold. Judging by the new trailer for his latest, “The Lady,” he’s made our of his grandest entertainments yet.

The Aung San Suu Kyi biopic premiered last month in Toronto to generally lukewarm reviews, but critics were pretty unanimous in their praise of Michelle Yeoh’s lead turn as the Burmese Nobel Prize winner. The epic film (it clocks in at 143 minutes) follows Suu Kyi’s activism against Burmese dictatorship and her marriage to writer Michael Aris (David Thewlis). The actress was deported and banned from Burma for taking on the role.

The trailer is all rousing music and sweeping shots with Yeoh commanding the screen in a big way. Cohen Media Group picked up the film out of Toronto. While a North American release date hasn’t been set yet, look for this to open before the year’s end to make the Academy Awards cut off deadline. Looks like Yeoh has a good shot.
