IN THE WORKS: Mr. Morgan's Last Love, Starring Michael Caine, Starts Filming in Paris

“Mr. Morgan’s Last Love,” starring Oscar-friendly Michael Caine and Jane Alexander, started filming in Paris this week. The bittersweet story of a retired and lonely American widower (Caine) who encounters vibrant and naive free spirit Clemence Poesy (“127 Hours, In Bruges”), the movie is adapted by director Sandra Nettlebeck (“Helen, No Reservations”) from the novel “La Douceur Assassine” by Françoise Dorner.

Sidney Kimmel Entertainment will co-finance and co-produce with German production companies Bavaria Pictures, Kaminski Stiehm Film,  Senator Film and the Belgium-based Scope Pictures  in association with Elzevir Films of France.  Sidney Kimmel will also produce.
SKE is seeking a domestic distributor, while Bavaria Film International is repping foreign pre-sales. Justin Kirk (“Weeds, Life Happens”), Anne Alvaro (“The Diving Bell and the Butterfly”), and Gillian Anderson (“The X-Files”) also co-star.

SKE plans to produce and co-finance a slate of five films for 2012, including the January Lionsgate release of “One for the Money,” starring Katherine Heigl (Lakeshore Entertainment);  Heitor Dahlia’s “Gone,” starring Amanda Seyfried (Lakeshore Entertainment), which Summit Entertainment will open in February; Taylor Hackford’s “Parker,” starring Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez (produced with Sierra/Affinity and Incentive Filmed Entertainment) to be released by FilmDistrict in the fall, and Derek Cianfrance’s “The Place Beyond the Pines,” starring Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes, which is aiming at a fall release. SKE will also begin production in February on “I, Frankenstein,” starring Aaron Eckhart (produced with Lakeshore Entertainment), for Lionsgate release.
