Project of the Day: A 3-D Documentary Takes on Living Forever

Here’s your daily dose of an indie film in progress; at the end of the week, you’ll have the chance to vote for your favorite.

In the meantime: Is this a movie you’d want to see? Tell us in the comments.

“The Methuselah Generation”

Tweetable Logline:

3D documentary on the science and philosophy of longevity. The film follows the lives of 4 futurists who are attemping to defy death.
Elevator Pitch:
The film begins with a vox-pop montage asking people if they want to live forever. Is immortality science-fiction or a future reality? We then delve into the longevity clinic of Dr. Terry Grossman as he treats The Pooles, a British couple, intent on hacking their health to live forever. The doctor’s clinic acts as the spine of the film, as we meet the big thinkers of the longevity movement to cure aging: Aubrey de Grey, Gregory Benford and Robin Hanson. The film weaves between the laboratories and universities of their lives as we learn about their roles in longevity.
Production Team:
Directors: David Alvarado, Jason Sussberg
Producer: Kate McLean (Associate Producer on Botany of Desire, A Fire Next Time).
Composer: Eric Kuhn
Writer: Jake Anderson
About the Production:
“David Alvarado and I are passionate about science! It’s a beautiful method that cures diseases, puts humanity into space and can be verified through measured evidence. We are interested in the personal and intimate lives of the people behind the science. I have spent the last three years making films on the futurists of Silicon Valley: from the seasteaders to the young entrepreneurs of the Thiel Fellowship. David Alvarado has made many films on science and the brain. We understand the issues, the ideas, the philosophical implications and the people—this is our story to tell!” — Jason Sussberg
