Summit and Media Pro Announce Film Output Agreement

Ralpho Borgos of Summit Entertainment and Anca Truta of Media Pro Entertainment, the distribution division of Central European Media Enterprise, announced Tuesday an exclusive three-year output agreement for all rights in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.

The deal applies to upcoming Summit films through August 2014, including “Now You See Me” with Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson and Summit’s remake of “Highlander.”

Summit Entertainment and Media Pro Entertainment, the distribution division of Central European Media Enterprise (CME), have entered into an exclusive three year output agreement for all rights in the Eastern European countries of Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania to Summit’s slate of theatrical films. The deal was announced today by Ralpho Borgos, Summit Entertainment’s Senior Vice President International Sales, and Anca Truta, General Manager, MediaPro Distribution.

This output deal encompasses upcoming films produced by Summit through August 2014 including NOW YOU SEE ME starring Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Morgan Freeman, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco, and Summit’s re-imagination of the cult film HIGHLANDER.

Summit Entertainment has had a successful and growing relationship with Media Pro since 2007 when Summit started licensing the rights to the studio’s films to Romania and Bulgaria. During the past year, Media Pro’s distribution activities of Summit’s films have expanded to include Hungary, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.

“Media Pro has proven itself to be a reliable and excellent distributor that has maximized results for us across all theatrical, video and television platforms,” said Borgos. “We are happy to partner with them over these next three years to continue bringing Summit’s films to their audiences.”

I’m very sure that we’ll both have a solid outcome taking into consideration that the EE countries MPD is activating have already proven their potential on the theatrical market. Our ongoing venture will ensure a highly competitive portfolio and will boost our position on the targeted markets.”
