Terence Stamp Reportedly Heads To 'Pan'

Formerly a potential project for the every busy Guillermo Del Toro to direct, New Line‘s re-imagined “Peter Pan” film really started moving forward when “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1” animation wizard Ben Hibon moved into the director’s chair, and kicked into life when it added Aaron Eckhart, Anna Sophia Robb and Sean Bean to its cast. Well that already impressive cast just received a delightful addition to its already superb ensemble

Moviehole is reporting that Terence Stamp, who you know from films like “The Limey” and “Wanted,” has apparently signed on for an as yet undisclosed role in the “Pan” reimagining. Now remember that this isn’t your typical J.M. Barrie adaptation, as this “Pan” is set in modern day United States, and features Aaron Eckhart as Captain Hook and Sean Bean as Smee, two cop partners on the hunt for a killer named Pan. Like we said, it’s not your typical “Pan.”

Sophia Robb is set for the role of the sprite Wendy, who helps Hook and Smee after she has a close encounter with Pan that almost ends her life. So is this film set to be some sort of hard R-rated version of “Pan” in the vein of “Se7en“? Anyways, we’re hoping that Stamp is playing Pan or something along those lines, but perhaps he’s playing a character a little less imaginative. We could care less about another iteration of the classic J.M. Barrie tale, but the script by Benjamin Magid clearly isn’t just another version of the tale.

When we last told you about the film, it was eyeing buyers at Cannes, and we’re guessing that the film is at least gearing up get filming since their news comes from sources on the production. And also considering that Eckhart’s 2012 calendar is already slotted with “I, Frankenstein” and the Dennis Wilson biopic “The Drummer.” No release date for “Pan” has been set just yet.
