Watch: Daniel Radcliffe Faces The Dark In New 'The Woman In Black' Trailer

The next six to eight weeks or so are a feast for film lovers, with a smorgasboard of arthouse highlights and big-deal tentpoles all arriving in theaters, but as soon as the clock strikes twelve on New Year’s Eve, then we’ll be faced with Everything Else the studios have to offer. The post-Christmas winter months are generally a wasteland of mediocre efforts, but every once in a while there is a diamond in the rough that stands out from the pack and in 2012, the gothic horror pic “The Woman In Black” has the potential to do just that.

The trailers thus far have been effectively moody and the latest continues down that path. The Hammer Films production centers a young lawyer — played by an all-grown-up Daniel Radcliffe — who arrives in a small town on the east coast of England to settle the affairs of a recently deceased old woman, only to discover a series of strange occurrences, including those involving the titular lady. Yes, in many ways we’ve seen this kind of movie a zillion times before, but James Watkins, director of the Michael Fassbender horror flick “Eden Lake” is definitely bringing some flair to the proceedings. Couple that with a script by “X-Men: First Class” scribe Jane Goldman, and the ingredients are here for something a cut above the ordinary.

“The Woman In Black” will land on February 3, 2012. Check out the trailer below along with a couple more images from the film.
