"Woman in the Fifth" to Open AFI'S EU Film Showcase

This year’s edition of AFI’s European Union Film Showcase will launch on November 3rd with Pawel Pawlikowski’s thriller “The Woman in the Fifth” starring Ethan Hawke and Kristin Scott Thomas.

The three Centerpiece screenings include Aki Kaurismäki’s “Le Havre,” Terence Davies’ “The Deep Blue Sea” starring Rachel Weisz and David Cronenberg’s “A Dangerous Method” starring Michael Fassbender, Viggo Mortensen and Keira Knightley.

The festival will conclude on November 21st with Tomas Alfredson’s adaptation of John le Carré’s 1974 spy novel “Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.”

A total of 44 films will screen during the showcase, including seven US premieres and six Foreign Language Oscar submissions.
