This photo of Canadian film, television and theatre actor Allan Hawko from last night’s episode of the popular Canadian television show Republic of Doyle (who is also co-creator, executive producer, head writer and showrunner) was posted on the show’s Facebook page yesterday morning. By the end of the day, there were thousands of “likes” and comments from fans of the show Hawco. My personal favourite is from someone named Lee-Ann Lea, who wrote:

‘OMG, the kids are going to bed early tonight so mommy can have some “me” time’

In celebration of the shirt-eschewing photo, here is a clip of Hawco (who is also Co-Artistic director with Philip Riccio of Toronto-based The Company Theatre, one of the country’s best and most important theatre companies), explaining to George Stroumboulopoulos “how to understand (and speak) the charmingly confusing Newfoundlandese”, a colourful language spoken by Newfoundlanders aka Newfies aka people of Newfoundland (where the show is filmed and set), on George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight, which is another popular Canadian television show:
