Common Joins Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Woody Harrelson In Heist Thriller "Now You See Me"

I did this film called Pawn, an independent starring Michael Chiklis, Forest Whitaker, and Ray Liotta. It’s a cool suspense thriller about these people who hijack a diner, and I play a negotiator. I’m about to film this movie called Now You See Me, which stars Jesse Eisenberg and Isla Fisher and Michael Caine and Mark Ruffalo – I’d say it’s an action movie, about these magicians. It’s dope. I’m going down to film that soon. And I’m looking to do more great, quality films – independent, studio, action, drama, comedy, animated…

Words from raptor (rapper/actor) Common, in an Sundance interview with MovieLine mostly regarding his starring role in Sheldon Candis’ LUV, which debuted at the festival earlier this month. Common also served as producer of that film.

We’ve told you about Pawn already, so nothing new there; however, this is the first that I’m hearing about his involvement in Now You See Me – a film that stars Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson and Mélanie Laurent, in addition to the other names he mentions in his quote at the top of this post.

The film centers on a team of FBI agents tracking a team of illusionists who pull off bank heists during their performances and reward their audiences with the money.

Sounds intriguing enough, and I’d say Common is surrounded by a solid group of actors.

His IMDB page doesn’t list the film, nor does the film’s IMDB page list him as a member of its cast, so I have no idea what his involvement is.

A Google search revealed nothing.

Is he one of the FBI agents, or one of the illusionists, or neither?

I guess we’ll find out eventually.

Say what you will about the man and his abilities, somehow he just keeps getting work, and on all fronts too – TV, indie films, big budget films – and he’s got a new album out as well.

Don’t *hate* :)
