'Farewell My Queen,' Starring Diane Kruger as Marie Antoinette, To Open Berlinale

French-Spanish period costumer “Farewell My Queen,” directed by Benoit Jacquot, will open this year’s Berlinale, which runs from February 9 to 19. The “upstairs downstairs” drama adapted from Chantal Thomas’s novel stars Diane Kruger as Marie Antoinette and Lea Seydoux and Virginie Ledoyen as servants in Versailles at the start of the French Revolution.

The film will compete for Berlin’s Golden Bear. The festival is awarding Meryl Streep an honorary Golden Bear this year.
