McG Feels 'Guilty' For Fox; Clip From 'This Means War' Arrives

With a resume that boasts stuff like the forgettable “We Are Marshall” and the misguided “Terminator: Salvation,”  McG doesn’t exactly make for an auteur worth following, however, he has continued to make a living producing sub-Michael Bay shlock and proven himself to be just as bulletproof (critically, anyway) as Drew Barrymore in “Charlie’s Angels.”

Though if there’s one place McG has ever excelled, it’s been the small screen, executive producing hit shows like “The OC,” “Supernatural,” and “Chuck” to name a few. Now the feature helmer is turning his lens on a legal drama for Fox entitled “Guilty,” according to Deadline. Having directed the pilot of “Chuck,” which is currently wrapping up its 5-season run on NBC, McG will return to television to also helm the pilot for “Guilty.” The show centers on a morally questionable defense attorney, who has his legal license revoked following a case of fraud, and is forced to employ his typically unorthodox manner to handle cases he’s been banned from. Come on Fox, are you just asking for another “House M.D.”? McG is set to executive produce along with writer-creators Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti.

Though if you’re still pining for a taste of McG’s directorial sensibilities when it comes to action-packed romantic comedies, the recently PG-13 rated “This Means War” has a clip up over at Yahoo. While we respect the careers of Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon, and Tom Hardy, “This Means War” is shaping up to be a tasteless affair if this clip is any indication. Not exactly reaching the guilty pleasure heights of the first “Charlie’s Angels” film or even being very funny at all, this clip showcases Hardy’s character attempting to sabotage a date between Pine and Witherspoon’s character using his super nifty spy technology. Who would have ever imagined jokes about sexual acts with famous paintings WOULDN’T be funny?
