'Weekend' 'Pariah,' "Gun Hill Road,' 'Circumstance,' & 'Tomboy' to Vie for GLAAD Media Award

LGBT media organization Gay & Lesbian Against Alliance Defamation (GLAAD) has announced the nominees for their 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards.

Rodrigo Garcia’s Glenn Close-starrer “Albert Nobbs,” Mike Mills’ “Beginners,” and Clint Eastwood’s “J. Edgar” are nominated for the Best Film in Wide Release.  The following indies will vie for Best Film in Limited Release:  Dee Rees’ “Pariah,” Rashaad Ernesto Green’s “Gun Hill Road,” Andrew Haigh’s “Weekend,” Maryam Keshavarz’s “Circumstance,” and Celine Sciamma’s “Tomboy.”

Sundance alums “Becoming Chaz” and “We Were Here” are nominated for best documentary, joined in the category by the television documentaries “The World’s Worst Place to be Gay?,” “Two Spirits,” and “The Strange History of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.”  Both “Becoming Chaz” and “Strange History” are directed by documentary team Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato.
