‘West of Memphis’ Reveals New Witnesses in WM3 Murder Case

'West of Memphis' Reveals New Witnesses in WM3 Murder Case

The West Memphis 3 murder case, examined in the “Paradise Lost” series, just got more complicated. “West of Memphis,” the new doc screening here at Sundance, features new information from three witnesses about Terry Hobbs, who has been under suspicion since the 1993 murders but has categorically denied any accusations.

It get’s confusing, but here it is:  Michael Hobbs, Sr., brother of Terry Hobbs (the stepfather of one of the murdered boys, Stavie Branch), told his son, Michael Hobbs Jr, that Terry killed the three kids. Michael, Jr. then tells three witnesses what he was told. All three gave written statements to the WM3 defense team, two of them went on camera for the WOM movie in the past few weeks, just in time for it to be screened at its frist Sundance P&I screening this morning. The news come after speculation of a new interview that was scheduled to be shown at Sundance.

Hobbs has previously been accused of the murders by many in the case.

From a press release sent out earlier today:

The three new witnesses were polygraphed about what they stated Michael Hobbs, Jr, Hobbs’ nephew, told investigators:

“One day Michael picked us up in his truck. He was very quiet and upset. Michael then said to us, ‘you are not going to believe what my dad told me today. My Uncle Terry murdered the three little boys.’ According to Michael, his dad called this ‘The Hobbs Family Secret’ and he asked us to keep it a secret and not tell anyone.”

Another witness stated, “One night last winter, Michael and I were playing pool in his basement when the third friend asked about the West Memphis Three case which had been in the news. Michael responded by saying, ‘My uncle killed three kids in West Memphis.’ Michael was dead serious when he said this.”
