Denzel Washington In Talks To Join Mark Wahlberg In “2 Guns” (Haven’t We Seen This Before?)

Denzel Washington In Talks To Join Mark Wahlberg In "2 Guns" (Haven't We Seen This Before?)

His Safe House opens in theaters this Friday (I saw it yesterday and will post a review soon), and Denzel Washington is already on to the next one (he already completed principal photography on Robert Zemeckis’ Flight), which will be out later this year.

And he’s now said to be “in talks” to join Mark Wahlberg in another action drama titled 2 Guns, which is based on a graphic novel published by Boom! Studios.

Baltasar Kormakur (who directed Wahlberg in Contraband) will helm the project which centers on a DEA agent and an undercover naval intelligence officer who “unwittingly investigate each other as each steals mob money.

I smell elements of The Departed (said in my best Boston accent).

But this does sound awfully familiar doesn’t it? The older black Denzel being paired with the younger white male co-star. Lemme guess, as in Safe House, Wahlberg’s character (like Ryan Reynolds’) will have a fuller life, with a love life and family, and Denzel will have to be content with being the film’s resident loner badass who teaches the young stud a thing or two.
